POSITION:                 Elementary English Language Learner Teacher

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt - 187 or 189 Day Contract

SALARY:                   Approved Certified Compensation Plan (Education and Experience)

REPORTS TO:           School Principal & Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services or Designee

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Under general supervision, English Language Learner Teacher, also known as the ELL Teacher, serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language. The ELL teacher works in a program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in small group and individual student settings. In addition to this specific individualized instruction, the ELL teacher may assist general education classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English Language Learners. The ELL teacher will follow the regulations associated ELD standards and reporting requirements that pertain to Title III. The ELL teacher works under the supervision of the Principal and Director of Academic Services.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation:  critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly.  Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 125 lbs. 

 

 

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: 

A valid Arizona Department of Education Certification/Endorsement consistent with assignment [Structured English Immersion, English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual (BLE)] and a valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
